Working to Enhance Our Quality of Life

  • Preserving Property Values: Works to promote innovative economic development by advocating to fill empty storefronts and eyesore plazas before building new malls, reconstructing County roadways to accommodate existing traffic needs, and limiting large housing developments that cause increased traffic and crowding in schools. As the Chairman of the Dutchess County Legislature’s Environment Committee, he has had the honor to lead meetings on land use, including the preservation of our farmland and open spaces.

  • Restore Management and Responsibility: We must return a strong managerial presence to Town Hall in ensuring projects are accomplished on time and on budget, securing Union contracts consistently on time, and hold professionals accountable - protecting taxpayer dollars.

  • Prioritize our Parks and Infrastructure: Led rehabilitation of Carnwath Farms Historic Site & Park efforts and works to actively improve other Town parks and facilities.

Lifelong Member of our Community, Who Knows the Needs of our Community

  • Adopted strong County budgets that continue to offer services with new initiatives such as addressing homelessness and housing, youth services, as well as continued funding for senior services, mental health, infrastructure improvements, County parks and other critical services, no layoffs, and a ZERO tax increase to property tax payers.

Introduced legislation to offer tax exemptions for our veterans, seniors, and volunteer firefighters, all while lowering property taxes each year.

  • Launched our #WappingerStrong strong initiative to support small businesses who were hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic in the greater Wappinger area.

Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini is tested, tried, and true and has dedicated most of his life to bettering the quality of life for the people of Wappinger. Having started his public service career at age 12, he was appointed to his position within the Office of Town Historian for the Town of Wappinger. This appointment made him the youngest person to be appointed to a post within a municipal historian's office in New York State, as well as the youngest official to serve in a public capacity in the State. Throughout Cavaccini’s tenure, he has proven to be a transparent and accessible public official, communicating and engaging with dozens of residents each week. He has worked daily to preserve the quality of life of the residents of the Town and continues to look out for the best interests of those who live here. He has strongly supported, sponsored, and passed legislation that works on behalf of the taxpayer rather than against, lowered taxes, and brought back over $1million in County grant funding to projects here in the Town of Wappinger. Locally, he has worked to promote innovative economic development by advocating to fill empty storefronts and eyesore plazas before building new malls. Cavaccini has a proven 4-year voting record in support of small businesses, conscious development, first responders, and fiscal conservatism...
